From young children to
older adults, people of all ages will find opportunities to enjoy the outdoors
in Lakewood. Whether your interest is in finding the neighborhood playground, a
space to hold the company picnic, or retreating to nature, we have an
staff manage and care for the beautiful parks and open space in our city,
The darkness of night provides a unique backdrop for a hiking adventure, so leave those flashlights at home hone your night vision as a park naturalist guides you along the trails of Bear Creek Lake Park and the surrounding green spaces. Keep in mind each one will average an hour and a half of walking and observing. We will meet at the visitor center unless otherwise noted. Don't forget to dress appropriately for Colorado's everchanging weather. No dogs please.

Cost: $2/person, park entrance fee is waived.
Registration closes the Monday before the hike.

This is your chance to give back to Lakewood's open space parks! Attend our open house to learn about volunteer opportunities in the park. There are several ares of interest in which to volunteer.
No registration required, just show up to find out what volunteering for Lakewood's open space is all about!
Raptors of Bear Creek
This program is designed specifically for older adults. Participants will learn about the wildlife and natural history of the park through hands on education, programs and hikes. All programs are at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center unless otherwise noted.
Ages: 55 and over
Cost: $5 per person (park entrance fee is waived)

Babies of Bear Creek
Join us for a program specially designed for children ages 3-5. Participants will explore their natural environment through stories, songs and interactive programs. Please meet at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center.
